Community
At Sassafras we believe it is the wonderful people in our local community for whom we exist. We want to create a place that is central to your day to day life, a place to be at ease and relaxed, to celebrate, catch up with friends and family or just get some work done. We have always believed in giving back to the community where we can, supporting other local businesses, and lending a helping hand in the community.
Year in, and year out we donate meals, vouchers, our time, and what ever else we can, so as to improve the lives of those in our community.
The last few years have been particularly tough for everyone, ourselves included. Despite this we have dug as deep as we can and are proud to say that so far this year we have contributed:
25 Family sized fruit and veg boxes that nourished 25 families each with a weeks’ worth of fruit, vegetables and eggs. Thanks to our friends @thewholesalefruitco and donations we received.
Since April 2020 We have prepared 3750 meals that have been distributed by @communifyqld to those who were specifically displaced due to the Covid_19 pandemic. This was only made possible thru the generous donations from individual people and businesses alike.
Since 2019 We have donated over $5000.00 in cash and vouchers in, to local schools and various charity organisations, and look forward to further helping our community into the future.

Specialty Coffee
Our house blend is roasted by The Valley’s Bear Bones Specialty Coffee. Single origin and filter offerings showcase some of their best, ethically sourced, above fair trade coffee.
Vegan Wine and Beer
Our beverage list is carefully curated to ensure all our offerings are vegan-friendly and, where possible, locally produced and sustainably packaged.
Sustainability
Our coffee is packaged plastic-free where possible and sourced from local roasters. As much of our menu as possible is made in-house with fresh, local produce so that food packaging is also kept at a minimum.
We use local suppliers such as Wavell heights honey, Palmwoods mushrooms, Little Leaves Mirco Greens and Grazing Girls eggs. Thus reducing food miles by buying locally and farm direct. Not to mention cutting out the middle men means the farmers are getting a fair price for their wares.
Food waste from Sassafras is diverted to compost and used as fertilizer right here in Brisbane, 95% of our wholesale packaging is recycled. And all of our disposable retail packaging, cups, bags, boxes and bin liners are plant based so that they can be composted in your own back yard.
