For over 25 years, Sassafras has been Paddington's go-to for celebrations that don't feel like "events" — just really good food, good drinks, and good company in our hidden courtyard garden. Whether it's a birthday, engagement, baby shower, or the office Christmas do, we'll sort the food and vibe so you can just show up and enjoy it.

OUR SPACES
**Full Venue Hire**
Exclusive access to all of Sassafras — inside and out. Perfect for milestone birthdays, engagements, and larger celebrations for 30 to 90 guests. Available from 3pm til 10pm
**Chef's Table**
An intimate indoor setting for 6–10 guests — ideal for a special lunch, small birthday, or private celebration with a bit more polish. Available during regular cafe hours.

**Garden Marquee**
Our lush hidden courtyard, set up for 10–16 guests. Leafy, relaxed, and full of that Sassafras charm — great for baby showers, hens dos, and daytime celebrations. Available during regular cafe hours.

**Picky Bits Platters — $49pp**
​
The easiest way to feed a crowd. Missy's cakes, biscotti, dark chocolate bark, smoked cheddar, house-made sausage rolls and savoury tarts, pickled onions, and seasonal fruit, plus tea and coffee. Add champagne for an extra charge. Perfect for baby showers, birthdays, and relaxed group dining.

FUNCTIONS FAQ's
​
**How many guests can Sassafras hold?**
Up to 90 guests for full venue hire, 10–16 in our garden marquee, or 6–10 at our intimate Chef's Table.

**Is there a deposit?**
Yes, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date.
​
**What's your cancellation policy?** Cancellations more than 14 days before your event are refunded minus the $200 deposit. Cancellations within 14 days incur a $500 charge on top of the forfeited deposit.
​
**Can you cater for dietary requirements?** Yes — vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available across all our function packages.
​
**Do you allow dogs at functions?**
Our courtyard is dog-friendly — just let us know when booking so we can plan seating accordingly.
​
**What if it rains or there is an emergent event **
Our garden is covered and weather proof in light to heavy rain conditions. In events of big storms with torential rain and strong winds we may move the event inside the cafe if suitable. In the event of a dangerous weather event or governement lockdown or government direction we reserve the right to reshedule your event at no penalty. We will always work with you to keep everyone safe, and find a mutual solution.
